Auditor, His Excellency

deems it a matter

worthy of consideration whether those Circulars

can

have reference to such expenses, which would

appear more directly to attach to stores of

Naval

or

Military

nature; and therefore, similar

to those supplied by the Ordnance here to the

Civil Government for the Colonial Gun boat and

Police purposes.

If there be a discretionary power vested in

the Board by which you may be enabled to withdraw the heavy charge objected to by the Auditor, His Excellency would be glad to cause the accounts to be adjusted, as there cannot be any objection to the Departmental Expenses charged upon the other items already enumerated. But, should you not possess this power of summary decision, His Excellency requests that you will have the goodness to submit this letter with its Enclosure for the consideration of the Honorable the Board of Ordnance.
